“Imagine a place so flat you seem to see the curvature of the planet, so barren not even the simplest life forms can exist; this is a dry salt lake.”
Simon Davidson is an Australian photographer who has perfectly captured the essence of Bonneville Speed Week, an annual event that hosts the world’s fastest speed trials. It been said that the Bonneville Salt Flats are so white and so flat that you can actually see the curvature of the earth.
Originally born in New Zealand, but raised in Sydney, Davidson found photography at the age of 25 and began to spend all of his time in the darkroom developing film and hand printing black and white images. In the late 90’s, he moved to New York to assist fashion and celebrity photographers before returning to Australia where he lives with his partner and daughter.
